Privacy Policy for OvoHi

Last updated: August 19, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how OvoHi collects, uses, stores, protects, and handles your information when you use our services.

Privacy Policy for OvoHi

OvoHi is a language learning and cross-cultural exchange platform for users around the world. It helps users reduce language, regional, and cultural barriers through multilingual communication, translation, content sharing, and culture-focused conversations.

At OvoHi, we treat privacy and security as important considerations when designing and operating our services. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information and make product decisions with respect for user privacy.

Before using OvoHi services, please carefully read this Privacy Policy. Unless you have read and accepted all terms of this policy, please stop using OvoHi services immediately. Once you check or tap “Agree to the Privacy Policy”, you are deemed to have fully understood and accepted this Privacy Policy.

1. Scope of This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to the OvoHi app (“App”), OvoHi Web (“Web”), and other services operated under the OvoHi brand that reference this policy (collectively, the “Services”). Where the relevant features are available, the App and Web may share accounts and process information for accounts, profiles, community content, messaging, translation, customer support, payment verification, safety, and compliance. Features, interfaces, and processing may differ by client; this policy does not represent that every feature is available on every client.

2. Information We Collect

When you register for OvoHi, you need to provide login information and certain basic details necessary to provide the service, such as an email address or phone number, username, gender, date of birth, country, language, and avatar. The username, email address, or phone number you provide may be used as your OvoHi login credential.

When completing your profile, you may share additional information, such as profile text, an avatar, and photos. To add photos, you may need to allow us to access your camera or photo library.

Only users who are at least 18 years old may register for or use OvoHi. Users under 18 may not register for or use the Services. We may process your date of birth or age confirmation to determine eligibility, prevent use by minors, protect safety, and meet compliance obligations. We may use currently available eligibility checks to refuse or stop a registration or use attempt identified as being made by a user under 18. Eligibility checks may not detect every case; if we later identify an account as held or used by a user under 18, we may restrict or terminate that account and handle related information in accordance with applicable law and the retention rules in this policy. There is no parental-consent exception to this age requirement.

We may process your language preferences to provide applicable interfaces and translation services.

When you choose to sign in with Apple or Google, we may process the login provider, provider account identifier, email address and its verification status, display-name or name fields, an ID token or access token, an authorization code, and security parameters such as a nonce, state value, or request identifier, as needed for the applicable login flow. We use this information to authenticate you, create or link an OvoHi account, prevent fraud, and protect login security. Apple and Google independently process information they receive under their respective policies. The fields actually provided depend on your chosen provider, authorization, and login configuration.

When you use relevant features, we may process content that you provide, post, upload, or send, including profile text, usernames, avatars, images, videos, moments or feed content, comments, chat text, voice messages, and links, as well as report materials, appeal evidence, and customer-support communications.

We may process this information to route and deliver messages; display, store, or translate content; investigate reports; enforce our Terms of Service and community rules; handle appeals; prevent fraud and abuse; protect users and platform safety; preserve necessary evidence; and comply with applicable law.

To protect your account, network, operational, and system security and to prevent fraud, abuse, phishing, malware, and technical failures, our servers may automatically record device identifiers, IP address, operating system, app version, language settings, crash logs, access time, feature usage, payment verification status, and similar technical information.

After you enable camera permission, you may use this function to take photos or videos for upload and sharing. Even if you have enabled camera permission, we access the camera only when you actively use the relevant function in the app. We handle related content according to this Privacy Policy and applicable law.

We need access to your device storage/photo album permission when you upload or update your account avatar or publish images and videos. If you refuse to enable these permissions, we will not be able to provide the corresponding functions, but this will not affect your use of other platform features.

When you send voice messages, microphone permission is required. Even if you have enabled microphone permission, we will only access the microphone when you actively tap the microphone icon in the app to capture voice information. If you do not use this function, you may deny this permission. This will not affect your use of other platform features.

OvoHi Web may use first-party cookies, localStorage, and sessionStorage to support login, security, and currently available features. These technologies may store access and refresh tokens for login and security verification; language and message-sound preferences; chat read or deletion state; transcription-task state; device state; badge or unread-count state; PayPal pending or completed order identifiers; and wallet preselection. Where applicable, session data is cleared when the relevant browser session or flow ends. Preferences and other persistent data may remain until overwritten, cleared by a currently supported logout-clearing flow, or cleared by you through your browser.

To prepare and provide push services, OvoHi uses Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM). FCM may process device and platform information, an FCM token, a local device identifier, app version, language, and the notification content or business data needed for delivery. This information is used to initialize and maintain push tokens, prepare or deliver service notices, security alerts, community messages, and membership notices, and troubleshoot delivery. Whether a notification is displayed on your device depends on device or operating-system notification permission and your notification settings.

When you use translation, the text to be translated and target language may be sent to the translation provider enabled in the production environment. The provider may include Baidu Translation or MiniMax and may vary with available configuration. This processing is used to generate the translation you request.

When registration country prefill is available, we may use icanhazip.com to obtain the device’s public IP address and provide that IP address to api.iplocation.net to infer a country suggestion and prefill the registration country. If you keep the prefilled country or select another country, that country may be processed when you submit registration as registration, profile, and account data described in item (1). A country suggestion inferred from an IP address does not represent a precise location.

We may engage third-party service providers to process information on OvoHi’s behalf for hosting, security, customer support, push notifications, translation, infrastructure, and compliance support, and use applicable contractual and security measures to limit their processing purposes. Providers such as Apple, Google, and PayPal may also independently process information under their own policies for third-party login or payment data described in this policy.

OvoHi provides Services globally, so identity, push, translation, payment, and infrastructure providers may process personal information outside your country or region. Depending on applicable law and the specific processing arrangement, we use applicable contractual measures, access controls, encryption, or other lawful safeguards. This policy does not promise a particular storage country or region.

3. Data and Information Security

Messages, voice, and other user-generated content may be processed as described in this Privacy Policy for sending, displaying, storing, translating, safety, report and appeal handling, customer support, and compliance purposes. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to reduce the risk of unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or loss.

Users may report inappropriate content or behavior through reporting entry points or customer-support channels currently available in the relevant client. Report information may include the reporter’s account or contact information; the reported account or content identifier; the report category, explanation, and submission time; attachments or screenshots; and event-related log, device, network, or security information. We may also record handling and appeal outcomes. Whether and how content is reviewed may depend on the report, context, risk signals, applicable rules, and review capabilities then available. Based on the findings, we may take appropriate action, such as removing content, restricting features, or suspending or terminating an account. This does not mean that we read or review every item of content, and we do not guarantee that every report will be handled in the same way or within a fixed period.

We do not disclose a reporter’s identity to the reported user or other unrelated users unless disclosure is necessary under applicable law, legal process, a law-enforcement request, or to protect users or public safety. We may provide limited report information to service providers, professional advisers, or competent authorities that need it to investigate, enforce rules, handle an appeal, or meet legal requirements.

4. Personal Information Privacy and Security

Protecting user personal information is a fundamental principle of OvoHi, and we take reasonable measures to protect personal information. Except for processing and disclosures described elsewhere in this policy, we do not publicly disclose, rent, or sell user personal information to unrelated third parties. We may disclose information to the extent necessary in the following circumstances:

5. Other Terms

To better enjoy the services provided by OvoHi, you agree and warrant that: (1) the information you provide to OvoHi is true, lawful, accurate, complete, and up to date, and you will not maliciously register an OvoHi account by any means, including but not limited to using an invalid phone number, invalid or unverified email address, or another person’s identity; (2) if the above information changes, you will update it promptly; and (3) you will keep your OvoHi account unique during use.

If a member provides any false, inaccurate, or incomplete information, or if OvoHi has reason to suspect that the information is false, inaccurate, incomplete, violates member registration terms, or conflicts with the language learning and cross-cultural exchange purpose of the service, OvoHi has the right to modify or delete the member information, temporarily or permanently close the member account, or suspend or terminate all or part of OvoHi services.

6. Data Retention and User Rights

We retain personal information only for as long as needed to provide the Services, maintain accounts, enforce agreements, resolve disputes, protect safety, prevent fraud, complete transactions, and comply with legal obligations. Content and messages, report and appeal materials, transaction and dispute records, audit logs, and fraud and security records may have different purposes and retention periods, so there is no single fixed retention period for all information. We determine an appropriate period based on the type of information, processing purpose, risk, contractual requirements, and applicable law. When information is no longer needed, we delete, anonymize, or otherwise handle it as appropriate under applicable law.

After an account deletion or data deletion request, we will follow applicable processes to delete or anonymize account-linked information that is no longer needed. Some information may be retained for a necessary and limited period to comply with law, protect users or public safety, complete a transaction, handle a refund or payment dispute, preserve audit evidence, prevent fraud, or establish, exercise, or defend legal claims. Information in backups may also remain until the normal backup rotation cycle completes, subject to access restrictions. We do not promise immediate deletion or a uniform fixed deletion deadline.

Subject to applicable law and identity-verification requirements, you may request access to, a copy of, correction of, or deletion of personal information; restrict or object to certain processing; withdraw certain consent or permissions; and appeal applicable report, account, or privacy-request decisions. Some requests may affect your ability to use related features, and legally permitted retention exceptions continue to apply. You may use settings or account features currently available in the relevant client or submit a request or appeal through the current contact details in the “Contact Us” section of this policy. Requests require reasonable verification and processing and are not automatically or instantly completed.

7. Termination of Service

If a member stops using the Services or the Services are terminated, we may delete or anonymize member data that is no longer needed in accordance with this policy and applicable law.
